Spiritual Transformation: Becoming More
Like Christ
And we, who with unveiled faces all
reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his
likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the
Lord, who is the Spirit. -- 2 Corinthians 3:18
What does it mean to be a Christian? Is it
about doing good deeds while avoiding the pitfalls of
immorality? Is it about attending church? Or is it simply a
ticket to heaven? Since the beginnings of Christianity in
the New Testament followers of Christ have wrestled with
what it means to be a disciple. And while these struggles
have produced numerous disagreements, at their core
virtually all agree that Christianity is about Christ. He is
the creator, the vine, the head, and the redeemer of all who
claim allegiance to Him. Our role, as disciples, is then to
follow in His footsteps, becoming more and more like Christ.
It is a submission of the heart to the work of the Spirit.
The Riverwood Summer Series 2008 will feature a widely
diverse group of speakers all focusing on this same idea –
spiritual transformation. How is it done? What does it look
like? Where do we begin?
